Holding Pond

The pond at the bottom of the hill of Thompson Creek Blvd is the main body of water in this development and was a discussion item at the last board of directors meeting. There is a concern about the amount of algae in the pond. This is a result of it serving it's purpose as a collection reservoir for run-off. Part of future plans will need to include maintenance of the pond.

Additionally the area around the pond collects trash and waste partially due to how the water level rises significantly during heavy rains then recedes leaving trash behind. This is another maintenance issue faced by the housing association.

In 2009 beavers in the pond area have damned up the spillway so the water has risen higher than it should, chewed down numerous trees surrounding the area.

In 2010 one of the beavers was live trapped and the other two left the south pond. Naturally safe pellet treatments are being used to keep the algae down. Some year an aerator may be placed in the pond but algae control needs to be better before an aerator can be affective.
